no more cute google banners. no more nights filled with awe. and no medal for the philippines, no, not a single one.

for the past two weeks, i'd drop by each day at google just to look at their banner, been loyal to only one channel on cable (BS1-TV Japan), and each morning ask my dad while he's reading the newspaper: may nanalo na from us?

watching the olympics is fun (or any sports event for that matter) for me 'cause i need not be an athlete to enjoy it. i most enjoyed watching rythmic gymnastics and diving (failed to catch catch the synchronized swimming though). but watching the olympics is also disappointing, especially for someone coming from a third world country. in fact, i am disappointed on two things, us not getting even a bronze medal ( thailand had 3 golds and hongkong, imagine, was able to acquire a medal ). second, that US eventually ranked number 1 overall. I was rooting for China to get it of course, the reason mainly being political. I wanted a country from Asia to make a statement and for more than a week, China was showing signs they could do that (on that note, check out tonight's The Correspondents. it's true what Philip Juico said).

that's over and done with anyway and the 2 weeks of seeing world class athletes worked good enough for me.

ah.. it's friday and it means lax day at the office. lax in the sense that coming back at the office at around 2 or 3 pm since lunchtime is forgiveable (especially if you're with the manager haha).

i just snuck out of the office to drop by at powerbooks. bought books (kulit, i got myself my own copy of Gossip Girl na rin =) ) and got that duffel bag they're offering as promo. can i just say that they could've done better? powerbooks isn't a sports store you know? oh but what the heck, it's free.

antm

it was all about knowing your own fashion style a while ago in america's next top model. i had to ask my siobe: that's not easy right? and she was like: yeah. d yun ganon kadali.

i don't know with other people but it's hard for me to define what my style is. (i guess that goes the same with my siobe). then again, i think in a way, she can define the way she dresses. other than being conservative, i think her style's more into the classy, sophisticated look. she likes her "porma" to be on a mature side. she'd prefer white over any color, said she doesn't wanna catch too much attention. totally my opposite when you think about it.

sometimes i think, i dress younger for my age. i like pastel colors on me. but then, i also like dark colors and the way i dress up depends on my mood. see, that's the reason why i don't think i can actually say that the girly look is me, or the daring/sexy look is, or the classic look is. i think, one way or the other, we, girls like to be in those looks i mentioned (and others more). i do. and i enjoy dressing up (and dressing down - you know, just spaghetti strap top and loose pants). i love clothes and dresses and shoes and accessories. most of all, i like that i don't stick to one style. aside from the fact that it gets tiring and boring, when people compliment you and say that you're a smart dresser regardless of the clothes you wear, it just means that it's because you do know how to carry yourself.

i remember how some of my blockmates were surprised(?) when they weren't seeing me in those clothes i was once wearing during my 1st term in college. i am a nerd and i looked like one at that time. and then second term came and it wasn't the same. i won't try to explain the reason anymore (it'll take another post to do that) but i don't think not a single one knew the reason of that 'transformation'. now, i'm still a nerd but i don't look so much like one (that's what i think).

i knew of my lack of assets early on (no boobs and a booty to be proud of, i tell you). but i never got insecure. i think i blamed it to the fact that i have chinese blood (and most asian women are flat-chested). regardless, i am just happy and confident with my body. it's still what He gave me, right?

if i had been on the heavier side, would i be singing a different tune? honestly, i don't think i would. i'd probably be this girl na gusto parating pumorma, no matter what other people might say or think. as long as there's the clothes, the money to spend, no body type's gonna stop me.

ah! this post seems too superficial. suddenly, i'm all about clothing style and weight. so yeah, it's not only books, tv, movies, etc. that keep me interested. babae pa din ako.
