Finally! Was able to finish Vladimir Nabokov's book. Tell you about it tomorrow 'cause I have to hurry up. My sister might watch Casablanca without me!

Crazy Times
Jars of Clay
You're cold that way
And that's why you say
The things that you say
You can't attract
The things that you lack
You're trying in vain
It seems it's always the crazy times
You find you'll wake up and realize
It takes more than your saline eyes
To make things right
You spiral down
You've broken your crown
You don't feel like a queen
You've seen the proof
But you're still crying wolf
You'll never believe
You try to climb a broken ladder
Grip the missing rungs
And fall down, down, down, down
Seems some time ago you said
This wouldn't last
And now you sit here crying
Beside your bed
You feel left for dead
You kneel in the dark
It takes more than your saline eyes
To make things right

Syempre kailangan mag-'put up a brave front'.

Still not feeling well. I'm not sick... it's an emotional "thing" that I'm experiencing right now.
Yesterday late afternoon, I read some transcripts of the next episodes of Six Feet Under. Saw ALIAS, the tagalized version. Ugh!!! It was horrible. I thought I wouldn't be able to make it to the last scene. Midnight today, watched Smallville's pilot episode to its 7th episode (thanks to Richie for lending me the vcds). Figured out that Studio 23 showed the 7th episode last Tuesday instead of the 3rd episode which they will air only later tonight.
Although I've found solace with these tv series, they're nothing but temporary solutions. ---> ahh escapism.

I feel like I'm this plastic bag in American Beauty. You know, the one that got Ricky's attention that he even videotaped it??
Can't help remembering Ricky's line as well: Sometimes there's so much beauty in the world I feel like I can't take it... and my heart is going to cave in.
Speaking of lines, I don't know what is it with this line during Six Feet Under's last episode that hit me:
Ruth: Be careful with him. He's a lot more fragile than he'd like to think.
Brenda: Aren't we all?
Maybe it's the truth in it. Yeah, aren't we all????
Don't you just love Allan Ball??
Sigh... I'm... confused...

What's with me? I just spent my weekend watching nothing but sappy movies. Last Saturday, it was these two local films: Got to Believe and Bukas na Lang Kita Mamahalin. I've watched the latter one 4 times already. Why? I don't know, the characters and situations just seemed real to me. And then this midnight, I watched Kate & Leopold as well as Sweet Home Alabama. Nah... I didn't like both that much. Sure, it won't fail on making you smile once in a while but I don't know, they lacked something....

The Spanish Film Festival will run at the UP Film Center's Videotheque and they're screening the movies for free...

I'm feeling proud of myself today. I got to Ayala alone! As in I took the fx and the bus to get there. You don't know how worried I was last night thinking that I'll have to meet Jataw and her best friend at the Enterprise Building. Ack... My father was hesitant at first... told me that my cousing could drop me off instead. I had to remind him how old I am and had to assure him that I'll be ok (if only he knew how I felt talaga).
I know I said before that I don't want to go looking for work as of now... but there I was tagging along with Jataw and her best friend around Makati. To be honest, I'm still not bent on having a job. I feel like I'm not yet prepared to be interviewed by those companies. My short-term and long-term goals? I haven't thought about them yet. Don't get me wrong. I do have goals but its just not me to write and lay them down.
As for "j"... Do you ever have moments when you feel like you keep on contradicitng yourself??? At times I say to myself, "c'mon, forget it... remember your conversation with Brian??". And then almost a day after that, I change my mind (just because of something he said or something he did) and actually believe that this could work out or that this could be it. Now, I feel like saying "Darn it. I don't need this right now. I have more than enough to occupy my mind as it is. I don't need this..". A far cry from what I seem to be saying on my last post. Hmph, guys... who needs them anyway???
There goes my lovelife again -- back to being non-existent. Blech! 'Nuff of this crap! (*me thinks I sound bitter)

I haven't been posting because things were going great... ok, not exactly great but good. Not anymore...
Last Firday... things went well. Shiela & Joy accompanied me at Glorietta and Jun even offered to give us a ride on the way there. Seemed like they were really happy for me. No, they are happy for me.
The thing is, we chatted last night up to this early morning. Like I told Jun & Joy, I think that was the most depressing chat we ever had. I was able to tell Joy more or less what we talked about as soon as me & "j" disconnected. I had to talk to someone... I haven't been able to tell Jun & Shiela what transpired on our talk. I'm not sure if they'd still be happy for me if they hear about it...
I can't exactly explain everything now.. let's just say things are complicated as it is... on his part...

Help! Will somebody please wipe away this silly grin off my face so that I won't look silly anymore? It's just that... guess who's back in Manila right now??? We've been like texting, ym messaging, and talking on the phone since 3 in the afternoon. Isn't that pathetic???
He did a business report for his sister's boss and volunteered to do it so that he could come back to Manila again. Said it's a tough excuse to see me (awwww). C'mon guys, that's what he said ok? I (syempre with my ever-supportive friends ---naks!) might see him tomorrow. I hope this time there won't be any goose chases...
Since it was Amazing Race day... I'm glad Derek & Drew are still 1st placers. And I thought Heather & Eve were nice, but they too wanted the twins out. Tsk tsk... As for the team that was eliminated (I'm sorry I didn't take note of their names...), what happened was pretty disheartening - taking the fast forward challenge and still be the last team to arrive at the pit stop. Shucks.. But that's the way it is... Celine??? (gets?) Ack, what's wrong with me?

Been yawning for hours. I wasn't able to sleep immediately last night that's why I only had 4 hours of sleep. I had to come to school early (I wanna finish the revisions for our thesis document today). It will be 3 busy days for me... I think...
So... what did me and my sister do yesterday that seemed really important?? We just watched two movies and tried out Rai-Rai Ken at Robinson's Place. My sister waited for me while I had my thesis meeting in school and then we went to Rob Place as soon I got out. Saw Mr. Deeds first and then O. The thing with Mr. Deeds is that you'd get to laugh at times but that's about it. As for O, I'm not too sure if people knew about it. I admit, the reason why I wanted to watch it at first was because Julia Stiles is in it and I wanted to check out if the movie did justice to Shakespeare's Othello. Well... I'd say I wasn't that disappointed.
Did I tell you that we have no Star Movies, Star Sports, Star TV, and National Geographic channels anymore? Destiny Cable had some problems with Star International. What's weird is that Star Mandarin is still there. Yahoo! Still.. now I have to wait longer for the 2nd season of Boston Public. Bye-bye also to the movies shown on Star Movies. Sad sad...
Oh, gotta go back to work...

I was glued to the tv last night (as if that's something new). It was a Chinese light romance comedy, Love Undercover first and the 2 episodes of HBO's Six Feet Under. Six Feet Under, being a dark comedy, is just ironically amusing. I also caught the Star Awards for TV after that, and like most of our awards giving ceremonies here, it took almost an eternity to end. I honestly thought I wouldn't be able to wake up for church.
Speaking of church, the Message in Word during our Worship Service hit me right on the spot. I haven't been serving and honoring Him as I should. I have become such a wayward Christian lately. Been listening to His word and not doing anything, been reading the Daily Bread and the Bible and still not putting them into action. I'm no different with the man, as the book of James says it, who looks at his face in a mirror and after looking at himself goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like (James 1:23-24). I knew, when I accepted Him, that it wouldn't be that easy. I have to make it up to Him. I have to evaluate the path that I'm currently treading and follow Him to where He is leading me. It won't be easy, but I'll try.
James 1:21
Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.

I'm pooped! (Plus I didn't go to our octoberfest.)
My dad dropped me off at Glorietta this afternoon so that I could get the books that I was being hyper about. He said I could stroll around and he'll just come back after an hour to pick me up. Ok, no problem with that. But after 2 and a half hours of walking around, he still hasn't come back. He finally arrived during my third entry into Powerbooks. I thought we're gonna get going na. My dad had something else in mind. He wanted to shop. I had this are-you-sure-you-want-to-do-this-NOW look. I had to give in. It's not like everyday that he shops naman and I could have my say on his choice of clothes pa. Spent 3 hours walking around again. Gah... I swear sometimes my dad's too picky.
And then traffic was bad!
Took a rest for sometime and then plastic covered my newly acquired books and some others that I have left before. I'm actually kinda sleepy already but I think I'll still read. Tomorrow, I'll start working on our thesis document so that I could let our adviser check it on Tuesday.
What's this news that my sister just told me? Destiny Cable's gonna remove it's Star channels??? OH NO!!! This is such a bad news for me. Does this mean goodbye Star Mandarin for me???? NOOOOO!!!!

Some people from our batch started their own octoberfest two years ago (or was it three years ago?). Tomorrow would be our annual octoberfest but I'm still thinking if I should go or not. Part of me wants to go but more of me is guilt-stricken. So now, it's 70%-30% (no-yes). Whichever, I'm sure jun would understand if ever he does not see me there since I already told him my reason a while ago (you understand naman jun, right?). My decision's not final as of now, I'll know when I get to school tomorrow.

Amazing Race talk. I'm glad Drew & Derek haven't been eliminated. I'm really cheering on these guys not only because they look hot. It's because I don't know why many of the other teams so-so hate them (I'm always on the underdog's side). Oh yeah, 'cause they're damn too pretty. I used to like Aaron and Arianne as well but they and other teams have been saying such derogatory remarks that I don't like them anymore. So now, it's a toss up betwenn Derek & Drew and the two Harvard law grads, Heather & Eve for me.

I wasn't able to watch the Single episode today. Blame it on Stephen Fung. I just watched his latest HK movie on Star Mandarin, Shadow. Nah... I'd rather watch Stephen than Asia. Besides, I don't thing this season's Single is any good.

I talked to Brian last last night pala. Haven't been able to tell him about "J".
Brian: Ano, cute ba? *this was the first thing he asked, would you believe?*
me: Uhh... he's Filipino e...
Brian: E ano? Ang tanong ko kung cute o gwapo e...
me: Uhhh... Oo...
Brian: Ui, kinikilig...
me:Ano ka ba?!! *i didn't tell him about "j" to be teased*
Brian: Matangkad ba?
me: Not really. But he's matangkad than me
Brian: Ahhh.. d sya papasa sa 'kin
me: Nyeh!
Brian: Love mo na? *i could sense he was making fun of me that time*
me: Course not.
Brian: E ano na ba nangyayari?
..... *edited*......
me: Pero teka, he's not from here.
Brian: San ba
me: Baguio
Brian: Layo naman. E mas malapit pa Hongkong dun. Yun 4 hours lang, e Baguio, 6 hours.
me: Kaya nga e. *slightly dejected*
Brian: Alam mo ang tanong e, Kaya mo ba?
me: D ko din alam e... Sya kaya, kaya nya?
Brian: D mo din masasabi. Pwede yan. Pagka-grad ba nya ano na?
me: Yun pa nga yung isa e, he can't wait to leave here daw. Mag-aabroad na sya as soon as he graduates.
Brian: Ahhh.. ganon? Naku... wag na nga yan
me: See... *feeling I just lost*
My best friend has spoken.

Shiela texted me kanina to tell me that Einstein's Dreams by Alan Lightman is already available in Powerbooks. I just don't know when I could get it. She told me she had it reserved up to Sunday only. I'm excited. I've been waiting for this to come e. Next acquisition would have to be Lolita (Vladimir Nabokov). Now that I meantioned it, I'm wondering, how come A Different Bookstore sells it Php658 and when I searched it on Powerbook's site it's only Php499? The thing is, everytime I go to Powerbooks, I don't see it there naman except for one time at the Arnaiz branch. Anyhoo... I just might buy it if when I come to get the one Shiela reserved for me. I'm just so excited!!!

The rain hasn't stopped yet. I wonder if Shiela's home by now. She texted me at around 10pm and told me they (I dunno who they were really) were stranded in school but they weren't allowed to stay overnight there. Weird. How do the school personnel think those who were stranded could go home???

Think I said too much.

By 6pm, we were already on our way home and were hurrying to catch the premiere episode of Smallville. But at 8pm, we're still at Espana caught in traffic. It was a heavy heavy traffic I tell you. I really thought we would miss it already. Good thing we arrived just in the nick of time. Yipee! Hmm... I'm sure I saw that scene where Clark was left by their school bus and he just ran to school. I remember -- from the original Superman movie (Christopher Reeves, yeah...). Oh, and the song playing on the background on the last scene, in case you people are interested or if ever it caught your fancy, it's Lifehouse's.
Everything
Find me here
Speak to me
I want to feel you
I need to hear you
You are the light
That is leading me
To the place where
I find peace again
You are the strength
That keeps me walking
You are the hope
That keeps me trusting
You are the life to my soul
You are my purpose
You are everything
And how can I
Stand here with you
And not be moved by you
Would you tell me
How could it be
Any better than this
You calm the storms
You give me rest
You hold me in your hands
You won't let me fall
You still my heart
And you take my breath away
Would you take me in
Would you take me deeper now
'Cause you're all I want
You're all I need
You are everything

I've been commuting a lot lately! A good reason for me to be proud of myself. Let's see, I now know how to go to Megamall via fx & bus or fx & mrt; to Araneta via lrt & mrt; to Glorietta via fx & bus or fx & fx; and to UP via fx and a jeepney (all of which I have to come from La Salle).
After attending our thesis meeting today, me and Joy took the fx and went to UP to watch another foreign film, Happy Together together with my sister. It was directed by Wong Kar-Wai, the same director of Chungking Express and starred Tony Leung (also from yesterday's movie). The title's quite deceiving - one would think it's a light romance movie. It's actually the opposite. It's a drama about two male lovers wherein the opening scene showed the two lead actors having sex. As the movie progresses, you'll see that homo relationships are no different from hetero relationships. Sometimes, there's the aggravated party, the martyr lover who later realizes his worth. The movie ended with a possibility of a new love for the guy (having left his other partner who just used and abused him). The movie's nice. Me and Joy were wondering how come the movie was shown in black & white at first and then slowly had colors. Thinking about it now, as the martyr lover recovers, the movie would have more colors added to it - just one of the director's cool idea. I can't choose which is better, yesterday or today's movie. They tackled different issues (although you'd see some similar points at times) but I'd say yesterday's was a little lighter. Today's on the heavier side (as it is, homo relationships are still taboo here in our country).

"J" just had his thesis defense yesterday. Yup, you read it right... yesterday. I myself am wondering why his defense was scheduled on a Sunday (I haven't been able to ask him about it..) They got a 93.98%. Good for him. This week is exam week for him.. a busy busy week for him.
Anyways, while I was waiting for my sister kanina and looking up in the dark sky (I was being sentimental again....), I couldn't help but ask myself: "Who do you think are you fooling?" I mean, the thing with "J" is really impossible. I really think I should forget about this.

My log for today:
9:00 am - Helped carry my sister's things and off we went to UP.
10:00 am - While my sister attended her first class, I stayed inside the car (with my cousin) and dozed off. I brought a book with me (Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand), somehow, I wasn't able to turn a single leaf the whole time I carried it.
11:30 am - My sister came along to accompany me inside the mass com bldg. I set-up the laptop while she made comfortably sat beside me. Started working on her visuals for her presentation later. (I was able to prepare it last Saturday pa, but we found some glitches just this day that I had to do it again, this is why I went with her to school today. Since we had anticipated this and with my sister being such a techno-phobe, she wouldn't know what to do.)
2:30 pm - Finally, I'm done. We went to have our late lunch at The Chocolate Kiss. This is one of the reasons why I volunteered myself to go with her today. I have to try out the dining places inside UP. Hmmm... i loved the cake...
3:30 pm - Still finishing my devil's food cake, my sister left me and went to her 2nd class where she'll be doing her presentation/report.
4:00 pm - Bought a ticket at the UP Film Center for today's foreign/art film, Chungking Express. Entered the theater and chose a good seat. The movie's actually a Chinese movie, but I haven't been able to catch it on Star Mandarin. And I don't think I'll get to pa since the movie was released 1994.
6:00 pm - Was surprised to see that it was raining, and here I thought I'd walk my way to where the car was parked. I just texted my cousin to pick me up at the film center. As soon as I got inside the car, I slept again (we have to wait for my sister for an hour pa). I don't know what's wrong with me, but I'm like really sleepy lately. Not only that, I'm also eating like there's no tomorrow.
7:00 pm - Headed home.

So much for that game. It's over and done.
I was just talking with Him last night and asking Him some stuff before I went to sleep. He just answered some of them during this morning's Worship Service in our church. The message was about trials and temptations (from the book of James in the Bible).
Trials
He lets trials come our way to draw us closer to Him. People are arrogant (we might not accept this fact, but it is true). We forget about Him when things are going well for us and only remembers Him when we're faced with trials.
What we should do when trials come our way: Ask for wisdom and rejoice.
Temptations
Unlike trials that come from the outside, temptations are found within ourselves. These are our inner demons. It's those desires that we give into but then realize that we find no happiness at the end.
What we should do when temptations arise: Resist.
Maybe there wasn't really new to the message that was shared to us a while ago, but the timing that it was shared was right for me.

The Ateneo team's picture is plastered on Star's frontpage today, reminded me of last night's game again. Huhu. I'm not about to sourgrape or whatever, I guess, Enrico said it best during his speech when he won the MVP award that this could be their time. Good for him that Ateneo won after 14 years just as he is about to leave but bad for Mike Cortez. Awww... This is his last year pa naman.
There was this incident last night, when we were lining up at the MRT's ticket booth: this guy who I think wanted to irk us asked us (actually, he was facing me pa nga e...) "Excuse me, sinong nanalo?" I was dumbfounded. I didn't know if I should answer him or what and then Yas and I looked at each other. After a minute (I think), I told him "Ateneo". Guess what he said next? "Ah talaga?! *half-smiling/half-laughing already* Haahaha" We were like, huh??? I mean, for the last 4 years that La Salle won the championship, we never went so low to taunt someone we don't personally know from Ateneo. Maybe some people do pero I don't think that's a nice attitude.
A nice text message I received earlier today:
A true ARCHER knows how to put down his ARROW when he sees a young EAGLE determined to fly. He is HUMBLE in victory, GRACIOUS in defeat.
Yeah, ANIMO LA SALLE!

Yikes, more than 12 hours to go and it's the do or die game of Ateneo-La Salle!!! I have no ticket... here I thought I'll be able to do it 4 years in a row... Oh well, we'll be at Padi's Point in Araneta to watch the game on t.v. while some of the people we know who weren't able to get tickets as well will be at the National Sports Grill... Sigh.. such a shame, a great game and we can't watch it live...
But then, there's something that I can still be happy about. The Philippines now have a gold!!! Thanks to Paeng Nepumuceno and Juan Bautista (you go guys!!!). And the RP team has just won its 4th game against Chinese-Taipei - next, they'll be battling the team that they've long been preparing for, the China team. Ack, I hope Jong Uichico's squad is ready for these guys... So far, we got only one gold medal... whatever happened to those officials who said they're eyeing for eight golds???

I overslept. I was supposed to be in school for our 11:30am thesis meeting but I woke up at 11. Even if I hurry, the meeting would have been over by the time I arrive. I just texted Kenneth and told him why I'll be absent.
I haven't heard from Joy again regarding the UAAP tickets. I received her message hours ago telling me that the tickets that we were hoping we'd get from Jaja's friend are gone and they are going to UST to try their luck. Looks familiar to me (Last year, I, with Yssa, Abie, Manu, and Yao went to FEU to UE to UST to buy tickets for Game 3 as well and ended up with nothing. Good thing though, Joy was patient enough to line up at Araneta and got us the tix, only, they were general admissions). I hope today will be different. I wanna watch the game LIVE!!!
Holy cow! I have reasons to be excited during Tuesdays and Thursdays once again. There's the Single (girl) every Thursday and now, Amazing Race is back on AXN! As for Tuesday - next week will be the premiere episode of Smallville and I have to wait till the 3rd week for HBO's new series, Six Feet Under. Yey!!!

Whew!
I just spent 4 hours of non-stop typing and clicking yesterday late-afternoon. If that wasn't enough, from the time I got home (9 pm) up to a few minutes ago, I was busy cutting-pasting stuff and doing the layout of the said portfolio. Maaaannn... my hands and arms are aching (especially the ones on the right side), but hey, here I am still blogging!
Anyways, I was treated twice yesterday - both lunch and dinner. Lucky me (and Shiela too)! There were actually 3 people I know who had their birthday yesterday - Bobby, Jenny, and Ramon. It was only Bobby who we got to celebrate with. Since Bobby's already working somewhere there in Gil Puyat, we (me, Shiela, and Kenneth -- Joy was missing in action) went to where he works. I hope he was happy to see us there. He seemed really surprised to see us sitting in their office and couldn't help but ask what we were doing there. Being there was like hitting two birds with one stone. I mean, for one, we got to be with Bobby on that special day and two, I got to see our other friends who are also working there (Nia, Carol, Redge, Ana, Grace, and Snow). There were three others who we didn't get to see (Jerry and Ramil were at some clien'ts office and Abie's down with the mumps). I couldn't help but think of how time flies (clich but true), parang it was just months ago when me, Nia, Snow and Kenneth were having our practicum.
And then as I was doing thesis stuff and Shiela was lying there in their project room, JR, who's also got himself a job already dropped by (I'm not sure why... hmm.. maybe he missed us... haha) He came straight from work. It could be that he got his salary that's why he treated us for dinner (then again, he treats people from time to time without any reason naman...)
There's another one among us who just left for the States (just yesterday), Sh. It may only be a vacation, but to stay there up to next year, that's a long time. She wasn't able to join the octoberfest muna before she left. Awww... I wonder how Jun will manage (hey jun, don't worry before you know it, Sh's back na...).
I don't think I can type any longer... I have to let these working hands rest now.

Now I really have to get a hold of that latest Cosmopolitan issue. I just watched (more like ogled) Probe's short feature showing the guys who are included in Cosmo's 69 Eligible Bachelors (hotties...) and I just have to know the names of the two guys that I saw there. Let's see, there was Lucky Manzano. Robby Mananquil (yup, Rissa Samson's brother), Christian Vasquez, Hans Montenegro (why???), John Hall (that Bench guy), Greg I-dunno-his-surname (the Powerboy) and Nelson Marcos (I used to not like this guy, but since I've been reading his advice column on Young Star, I couldn't help but like him. Seems like there's more to him than his nice body...). But I don't care about them, there's just these two guys that made me look twice on the tube.
I'm thinking, should I buy one or borrow from Shiela's Ate Tinnie instead?
Nah, I'll just rely on Shiela's cuz. Anyway, I've sworn off buying magazines for ages since I used to spend so much buying those teen and celebrity-teen magazines (not much local teen mags that time) - now kept in this mini-cabinet gathering dust (I've pretty much disposed some of them, the rest? I still can't bring myself to give away).
Hello Shiela? You reading this??
