does this make sense???

The difference with loving a person and loving your pet, say your dog: expectation.

We get a dog, take care of them and eventually loves them unconditionally. We hear people who grieve over their lost or deceased pets because one way or the other, they have become part of our lives. With loving them, we don't expect anything in return. It's enough that they comfort us during trying times with their presence (those moments when you cry your heart out, you have no one but your dog to hug you). It's enough that they entertain us with their tricks. But we don't hear them say i love you to us. We have no way of knowing if what they do to/for us are out of love. But we don't complain, for us, it's enough.

Maybe it's because human beings are superior to animals that we expect more from people we love.

We always want to be assured that they love us. We want to hear them say out loud that they love us. We want them to be this or that person for us. We feel they should be doing something more for us.

Is it possibe for us to love someone like the way we do when it comes to our pets?
