melancholy

when you're sad...

you turn to other diversions - diversions that would help you forget the sullenness of your emotional state. you turn to cheap thrills - thrills that give you happiness, only they're temporary. you smile and act like you're ok - except deep down you're nothing but.

they say we experience sadness so that we can be truly happy.

i wish it's true.

Ah, but we don't get sadness so that we can be happy; rather, to help distinguish one from the other. A point of comparison, if you will. To help us be more appreciative of the good things.

Cheap thrills, quick fixes or putting on a mask. All basically the same banana. But sometimes... sometimes, they help give you a nudge towards the right direction.

*nods* with what kulit posted...

you know what they say, and it's been said too many times - when you're down .. there's no other way but up .. (and have to repeat that to myself over and over again..) HOWEVER, when you're up there.. beware.. cos there's no other way but down. (comforting huh?! hehe..)

anyway.. i have come to believe that depression is the 'in' thing nowadays. (or is it because we're not getting any younger?? waaaahhhhhh quarter life!)
