kevin's take on forgetting

everybody knows home alone. it was after all the movie that made macaulay culkin a star [too bad he wasn't able to sustain his stardom]. the movie was such a hit that there was a sequel made. between the two, i liked the 2nd installment better. i have the book copy of this movie and it's one of those books that i love to read over and over again.

there was this scene where kevin (culkin) and the pigeon lady was talking just before Christmas Eve. The lady had this dialogue: "...you know, sometimes you trust a person. and when things are down, they forget you." And kevin replied: "maybe they're just too busy. maybe they don't forget you, they just forget to remember you. i don't think people mean to forget."

to remember is one thing. to show that you remember someone is another thing and it seems people find it difficult to do this. it makes me sad that people forget. they say the technology's there to make communication better among people. how come it takes too much effort for others to send a single sms or email to another just because? are we really that busy that we can't do a little act of letting someone know that even if we hardly keep in touch, we still remember him/her?
