Gah!

1 am and I was still wide awake. I remembered the VCD I borrowed from Joy. Next thing I know, I was watching Serendipity and munching on Cadbury Black Forest. That was a bad idea.

I have nothing against the movie if that's what you are thinking. It's one of the movies that I actually love but unlike A Walk to Remember which I've seen for God knows how many times, I only saw this once. It's just that my timing of watching it again was off. Waaay off. Couldn't I have picked another day to see this one???

The song, the book (although not that specific book), the characters' differing locations, and the characters being committed... Is it possible that there be more stuff in the movie that would remind me of my present predicament???

Sometimes you wanna believe in things like that, destiny... But sometimes that belief just fades away...

Woohoo! Our thesis document's ready for submission tomorrow.

And... I just found out that it's Edison Chan every Wednesday on Star Mandarin for this November! (* me thinks i'm babaw...)

Ang tagal ng sundo ko. I wanna go home and nap!

I'd say today was a good day except that I wasn't able to go to church just because I overslept. It may not be such a grave sin, just the same I feel bad not attending the service.

What else can I talk about besides books and movies??? Ha! Books and movies still! I really think it was a good idea that I read Esquivel's book after Lolita. It was waaay lighter. Think of Like Water for Chocolate minus the cooking thingies and you'll have Swift as Desire. Still deals with family relationships but not like the way Amy Tan does it. Get the picture?

And then I watched Platoon. Cool! I'm not a war flick fan, never been and never will be (didn't watch Pearl Harbor or Black Hawk Down or etc). I just tried this one and I don't regret doing so. I mean, nothing beats the original (ok, so I don't really know if there's any point if I compare Platoon with the others I just mentioned 'cause I haven't seen them in the first place and I'm not that privy as to whether there were other war flicks before this, I'm just assuming that it was one of those originals). If you haven't the slightest idea what the hell I'm talking about, this film starred Charlie Sheen together with Willem Dafoe (this year's the Goblin in the Spiderman movie) and (sige na nga) Tom Berenger; and won 4 Oscar awards in 1986 (and was shot on location here in the Phil). You'll see a mix of emotions from the characters who had to go through harrowing experiences during the Vietnam War.

Well, so that you won't think that I've been doing nothing but lie here in our house, I printed 3/4 of our final thesis document already. I plan to edit and print the rest of the docu tomorrow in school since I'm still waiting for Kenneth and Mel's data. I hope I do get to finish them tomorrow, that way I could photocopy them on Tuesday and have them ready early for it's deadline on Wednesday.

Got a call from Jun and Jataw around 10pm last night and we burned our telephone lines till 3am. Nya. Parang elementary & high school days na telebabad noh? Yun nga lang wala pang 3-way that time.

What did we talk about anyways? Hmm.. let's see... malamang kung anu-ano. Heck, nagdamayan lang kami actually. Nevertheless, I think our talk did me some good.

I didn't go to the cemetery. Surprise surprise. Nah, honestly... I don't remember me going to the cemetery during this time since I was a kid. Ah wait, there was pala. Once lang, as in. It's always just my dad and my mom. It's not that I'm missing out on anything. I can always pay my visits anytime of the year.

As I was saying last night, it took me a week and a half just to finish Lolita. It's not something that you can read for entertainment purposes especially if there's a prudish part of you (which is my case). The book talks about Humbert Humbert's "affair" with Lolita. There couldn't be nothing wrong with that except that Humbert was already in his what? 40's while Lolita was just 12 years old for pete's sake. Besides, he was her step-dad mind you. And as you pore into the pages, you'll see that Humbert knows he's got a problem. He himself admits that he's a maniac and that he's gulity of pederosis (that's the use of children by adults as sexual objects). Ok, so maybe he really loved Lolita, still... Anyways, besides that unusual plot (it's not always that you read a book solely about this right?), you couldn't ignore Nabokov's use of words especially for a Russian writer (although I admit there were a lot of words that I had to refer to the dictionary still to understand what it meant).

I'm off to finishing Laura Esquivel's Swift as Desire next. I need something lighter than the one I just read.

And oh, I now know how Humphrey Bogart looks. Hahaha. And I now know what it is with his voice that there are some books that mention his name. Hahaha again. (yes, ngayon ko lang napanood 'to)

After watching that 1942 film (no need for synopsis or reviews here 'cause I believe this one's one of the most popular films ever made), I focused my attention on Final Romance. Why not? when it's starring Edison Chan. *sigh*
